Thursday 3rd July 2003:

I'm back from the Irish Kotei, which was extremely enjoyable. A harty thank you to all the Irish players and Gordon O'Keefe the TO.

Congratulations to Mark Wooton on winning a kotei on his second attempt this year.

This month I will also be going to GenCon Indy for the end of the Story Arc, but before that we are running a couple of Clan Rivals events. I have seen the new cards and folders and they look superb. I would not hesitate to say that they look even better than the season kits.

I would strongly encourage anyone planning on going to this Sundays Clan Rival event to Pre-Register for the event. There are only 16 place available and trust me you do not want miss out on these promos.

For the top 4 there are clan rivals binders which look fantastic. Plus every one will get the new Sanctified Temple foil promos and top 4 get foil Gifts and Favours.

Wednesday 18th June 2003:

I will be away in Ireland for a couple of weeks so this site will not be receiving any updates until I return on the 30th June. I will be going to the Irish Kotei on the 29th June. You may find more information regarding this on the following web page:

http://www.geocities.com/yoritomokurikaeshi/default.htm

In the meantime, I have all the tournaments up-to-date with correct times and dates on the "Upcoming Tournaments" page. Please avail of the pre-registration page as I will still be replying to these mails. I will update results upon my return.

Monday 16th June 2003:

From 86 players, after 7 rounds of swiss and 3 knock-out rounds, Ben Palmer from London emerged as the winner of this years UK Kotei playing Corrupt Crab blitz. Well done and congratulations to him! Ben chose Tsuruchi Hiro to be sent to Daigotsu's Court.

Ben is only a new player to L5R, having started playing the game in October/November 2002. He is a bright talent and quickly showed his potential by winning many tournaments and placing highly in his local area. You can see Ben's consistency on the results page of this website.

In the final, Mark Armitage (runner-up) playing Corrupt Agasha Rats, conceded the seed at GenCon to Ben as he knew he would not be able to make the event. It was a most honourable decision from Mark who has been at the backbone of L5R in this country for many years.

Mark had only just returned to L5R after a 6 month period. He had all but quit the game and was 2 expansions behind.

For his decision though, he was more than worthy of his prize as most honourable player, and received an AEG mug with 200+ rare & promo cards donated by the players who attended the event.

Well done and congratulations to both of them!

* We also had 2 other London players in the top 16; Keith Anderson playing Shadowlands was 16th and Aaron Boyhan playing Kolat Unicorn was 11th, narrowly missing the cut

* Team Jade Cat from Cambridge also had 3 players in the top 16; Helen Keeble (9th - Crab Walls), Joe McDonnell (losing quarter-finalist - Kolat Unicorn) & Eljas Oksanen (4th - Corrupt Tamori Blitz)

* Southampton was represented by 3 players in total; Will Masters (13th), David Ryle (losing quarter-finalist) & Mark Armitage.

The other top 16 players were:

3rd - Mark Wooton (Scotland) - Hida Rats

Losing Q/finalist - Ben Davies (Liverpool) - Lion

Losing Q/finalist - David Slater - Corrupt Scorpion military

10th - Jim Brophy (Carlow, Ireland) - Crab Walls

12th - Angelos Tryfantallyou (Hull) - Unicorn Honour Switch

14th - Chris Marples

15th - Justin Walsh (Limerick, Ireland) - Shadowlands P-Kill/Led Into Darkness

A lot of credit for the smooth running must be placed with Dave Robotham and MC Justin Walsh..

As event TO, Dave kept a calm head at all times and the event would never have gone so smoothly if not for his efforts.

Justin was fantastic as the very essential tournament MC, organiser and judging authority.

Tuesday 20th May:

Best laid plans of mice and men...

Well I've had my first little hiccup with this site; the tournament pre-registration was not working as the aliases for the domain had been reset with the webhost when they had a service outage. It's been restored, but unfortunately any pre-registrations over the last while have not been received.

So I've updated the "Thank you" page to place a reminder to mail me direct if you do not receive a confirmation within 12 hours (in practice I reply within 1 hour). I also posted a message to the L5R-UK list about it. I hope it catches everyone who may have tried to pre-register while that facility wasn't working.

Gotta get that mail auto-responder working properly for new mail in my mailbox...

Friday 16th May:

Ok Minicon won't be the first Heaven & Earth legal tournament, but dammit it will have good prize support!

All players pre-registering for Minicon X this month will not only receive a £1 discount on the entry fee, but will also receive an additional Foil Small Farm at the event. Get registered now by going to the registration page.

Tuesday 29th April:

After a question yesterday about where to play L5R in London, I've added a page to give directions to the Monday night games club at South Bank University.

Monday 28th April:

Seeing as I've just had a plug for this website from Hidden Fortress on the L5R-UK mailing list today, I think it only necessary to advise you of an upcoming weekend of tournaments called Hand of the Shogun they are planning the May Bank Holiday weekend. This is the same weekend of the Minicon tournaments, but their main L5r tournament is on the Sunday, whereas Minicons is on the Saturday. So those addicts among you can get twice the fun!

Hidden Fortress upcoming events:

http://www.hidden-fortress.com/events.htm

I've also added a little page where I will update the results of this years Kotei winners. For those who take an interest in the meta-game.

GenCon UK has been and gone, and a good laugh it was too. Congratulations to Keith Owens from Liverpool for a well won victory in the Hand of Peace storyline event. Now the rest of us must get on with preparing ourselves for the UK Kotei on June 14th!

Players planning on travelling to Minicon X this month will be interested to know that this will be the first Heaven & Earth legal tournament in the South-East. So it'll be the first real testing ground for the Kotei in June. Get those games in while you can.
